I missed “Favorite Things Friday” this past week, so I thought I’d mix it up a bit.
I am a frequent stalker on “Not Me! Monday” over at MckMama’s blog. Reading through the posts not only adds humor to the dreariest of Mondays, but reminds me that I am not alone in this crazy life we call motherhood. We’re all human, we all do silly things, so why not let others know that they too are not alone?

So here is my first venture into brutal honesty…not!:
Today I did not sit in the drive through at McDonalds, all the while criticizing (in my mind) the girl walking down the street in shorts and the man pumping gas in a t-shirt because they were dressed inappropriately for 34 degree weather…..while I ordered an icy cold milkshake. I did not consequently have to turn up the heater and turn on the seat warmer.
I did not order a milkshake I didn’t even want knowing that apart from the fat grams and calories, it would be the worst thing to drink with my cold & congestion. I did not rationalize it by saying it was worth making my cold worse because it felt SO good on my raw, sore throat.….it was that or a Slurpee. 7-Eleven doesn’t have a drive-thru. McDonalds won.
Sick as a dog, I did not try to get away with feeding my kids animal crackers for breakfast. I did not try to cover my intentions when my husband walked into the kitchen. I did not try to pretend they were just an ‘appetizer’ before the ‘real breakfast’ of eggs and fruit. What kind of Mom gives her babies animal crackers for breakfast? Certainly not me!
I did not finally decide to go to the doctor, get all three kids bundled up, into their car seats, out of their car seats,
I did not go back to the clinic tonight (sans children) and spend 3 hours there. I did not
I most certainly did not search through “Not Me! Monday” posts to see how many other Moms put their kids to bed without brushing their teeth just so I could feel better about
What did you not do this week?

Welcome to Not Me! Monday....Great first list! I cannot believe a doctor would not see you with your kids! There has to be a law against that! Hope you feel better soon....
Oh those were priceless! Thanks for making me smile! I'm glad I'm not alone ;)!
Hope you are feeling better soon!
So, I am stalking the not me's and came upon yours. I love the part about animal crackers because ... that's what my two boys had on the way to church on Sunday for breakfast! Motherhood ...
Great story! And if it makes you feel any better, my kids had popcorn for breakfast this morning on the way to the doctor's office. My middle child has pneumonia and I wanted to get to the clinic in a hurry and popcorn was the quickest snack I could think to grab! I was feeling pretty clever until my oldest daughter told the doctor that her sister was probably sick because "all mom would feed us is popcorn!"
I can't believe they wouldn't see you with your children there!!
I would of cried as well.
Animal crackers are a good start to the day.
Have a good day.
I happened to click on your blog while reading the links at MckMama... I couldn't leave without commenting because I love your Not Me!'s. Once, not too long ago, I was horribly sick and gave my kids rolls and a slice of cheese for lunch.
I cannot believe they wouldn't see you with your kids! I would have cried for sure, unless I screamed instead. I am so bad about brushing my 2 year olds teeth. I've even checked his breath before going out just to be sure I could get away with it. Poor baby, he'll probably have lots of cavities.
I am a follower of MckMama and love not me Monday's. I would have cried too in the middle of the waiting room. I love your Not Me's!
You should make a new "not" Monday... one that says ... "Dr. So-and-so is NOT my doctor!" How unprofessional and cruel for them to deny you, a sick suffering mom, because you have kids.
There is plenty I could write about "not me's" for single parenting teens! whew!
You always have such creative post ideas. It makes visiting your blog fun.
You poor thing, Kristin. I wish we lived closer to each other, but even more so today. I wish I could help you. I think you did a great job with the girls today, who cares what anyone else says!! j.k. Keep your humor, it will help make you healthy! Get better...Love you!
I loved this, it was too funny!! I think I am coming down with something too. Maybe a sinus infection. I will keep you lifted up in prayer sister!!
God Bless you!
Adrienne
